Recently stopped by the Sub Hub for lunch. We were warmly greeted by Angela and quickly found a table to sit at.My husband and I both ordered burgers - Cheeseburger with fries and the Stuffed Cheddar Jalapeño burger with baked beans. The food came out piping hot and delicious. The burgers were cooked perfectly, the fries crispy and the baked beans were right on.We tried a sample of the Banana Pudding and Toasted Coconut ice cream. So yummy! We definitely will be coming back to enjoy the great food and service.

The manager is extremely kind and friendly, willing to go above and beyond and makes a mean sweet tea! I ordered a chicken bacon ranch sandwich, which was a burst of flavor in mouth I would highly recommend. The ice cream is Yoders, an Amish made Ice cream and I would say it was the best Ice cream I have had in Lakeland. I also got the jalapeño burger which was pretty good, the only thing I would change is the cheese, I think a pepper jack cheese would complement the burger better. The last item I ordered was the Philly fries, I think they have great potential, but I think a hand cut fry would greatly improve them. Then again I am not a fan of crinkle cut fry. I pass by this restaurant twice a day for years and never knew it existed. I only found it because of google. I always thought it was just a VA for veterans and never knew there was a restaurant hidden next to it. I would consider it a hidden gem of a mom and pop restaurant.

SubHubThought we were in the wrong place, VFW is the Right place! Follow the side walk on the right side, when we walked in, we were greeted and it was bright, clean and smelled clean! We got the classic Italian subs, mine was pressed and my friends was not.Mine was excellent, I didn’t taste any Italian dressing on it tho. My friend with the classic Italian wasn’t very happy with hers , no Italian dressing on hers either and she said it was very dry, she got up and asked for mayo, she said that made it better! The bread was very fluffy and dry- so next time she is going to get the pressed! Definitely “inPRESSED” with that sub! Definitely will be back!! I was so excited about myPressed sub I forgot to take a picture! Sorry! I did take a picture of her Togo sub tho! And of the dining room! We will definitely be returning!! maybe we will ask for extra Italian dressing next time!!

Update: I took my family back the same evening and we all were quite disappointed in one way or another. My wife got the fish and chips special and the fish was flavorless and was very greasy. I ate a couple of bites and had to agree with her.My wife said she would have liked Gorton fish sticks at home in our air fryer much better. The fries were undercooked and soggy. Debbie offered to get her something else but her appetite was ruined so she refused. We did not ask either for her to take it off the bill but went ahead and paid for it. I had the pizza sub and had to send it back to get it heated longer. The first bite I took was lukewarm and the next bite was actually cold. It was better when Debbie, the only server on duty, who was good but overwhelmed, brought it back. I have to say it was pretty good though. My daughter tried the Cuban and was very disappointed. She did not care for the sauce. She said it had a salsa taste to it rather than marinara and the pork was sliced pork rather than shredded pork like most cubans are made with. She also ordered cheese sticks which came with the same sauce that she did not care for. My son-in-law had the Philly Cheese steak sub and did not really care for it either. He and my daughter split an order of the loaded Philly Cheese fries and gave me a bite. The french fries were also way undercooked and soggy. I mentioned to Debbie that they need to cook their fries longer I think the big problem was that they were very busy and must have been rushing things too much. It could be too a difference in cooks. Jeremy cooked my hamburger and tots at noon and Lisa cooked our food this evening. Debbie was a good server so no complaints there. I paid a little more attention to the table this time and it was very noticeable that the tablecloth was awfully stained and looked terrible. I would recommend them replacing them and putting plastic coverings over them to prevent them from getting stained and make it easier to wipe off spilled food.. It wasn't that they were dirty but rather permanently stained and it wasn't a good look. I looked at other tables and it was the same way. Based on this 2nd visit I changed my food rating from a 5 to a 4. Like any establishment there will be good food and not so good food. So stay with the burgers, tots and onion rings is my adviceOriginal review: This restaurant is a true hidden gem of Lakeland that I just discovered and never knew about. I visited for the first time on 7/12/24 for a business lunch and had the mushroom Swiss burger with a side of tots with a side of onion rings between the two of us. The other order was the stuffed cheddar jalapeño burger. I have to say that my burger was the best I have had in Lakeland or anywhere else for that matter. The portions were huge and really more than I could eat. The price was reasonable and fair. Angela was our server and she was the absolute best. She deserves a raise. She gave as a generous sample of the ice cream to try and it too was really very good. The atmosphere was nice and rhe place was clean . There are quite a number of tables and a couple of booths for indoor dining and some picnic tables outside. I will definitely be bringing my family back here especially since it is like two minutes from my house. If you live further away it will be worth the drive! Kudos to this restaurant!

I'm so happy to see they moved and didn't close!! They have a lot of tables to sit and relax with a welcome feeling. The sandwiches are made to order and come out delicious!! I never have a bad order from here, and I drive out of my way to get lunch here!!Highly recommend!!Enter from the right side of the VFW through the fence.

Vacationing from the Metro Detroit area, and the sandwiches were great! The potato salad was amazing!! And if you’re confused- it IS at the VFW hall!! To the right, and in the back door to the right!!

We always visit SubHub because of the friendly staff and the good food. Mostly because of the staff though. We love them. It is just on 98 North and it is quiet and easygoing.
